Prairie Lights is excited to announce that Mike Montgomery’s DAKOTA will screen at PLFF! Here’s a bit about the film:
Dakota is a short film about a young woman on the day of her mother’s wake. She lives in the tiny town of Dakota where life events aren’t just yours, they’re the town’s as well. Unable to face this reality, Sonny leaves unexpectedly and ends up in a familiar place, Roca Tavern. She’s surprised by a childhood friend who has come home for this sad occasion. The girls take a trip down memory lane with the locals and locales, finding themselves back at the funeral home to say a proper goodbye.
From the Filmmakers: “We filmed Dakota in the tiny town of Roca, Nebraska. We’re based out of Los Angeles but the majority of our cast and crew are originally from Nebraska. We knew that the only way to capture the small town Midwest feel that Dakota needed was to film it back in our home state. We rounded out our team by hiring local actors, crew, and willing family members to help us make our film.”
