Nebraska Premiere of THE ROOM by Erica Johnson!

We’re stoked to announce the Nebraska Premiere of Erica Johnson’s short film THE ROOM! Here’s a bit about the film:

The Room is about a young boy who is happily playing in his room by himself using his imagination. Suddenly, he realizes that his room is a mess and that his mom would not be happy about that. He rushes to clean up his room before his mom finds out!

The film was shot in Omaha with local cast and crew. World Premiere of Tom Knoblauch’s THE NUANCED SIDE to screen at PLFF!

We’re stoked to announce that THE NUANCED SIDE, a short film directed by Tom Knoblauch, will be World Premiering at Prairie Lights as part of the Comedy Anthology block! Here’s a little about the film:

Pepper (Leah Cardenas) runs the least biased news podcast out there, but when she runs into her ex-boyfriend Bradley (Ben Matukewicz) who now works for the mainstream media, she runs into a clash of philosophies and feelings.

Tom, Ben Matukewicz , and Leah Cardenas will all be on hand to discuss the film in the filmmaker Q&A panel and don’t forget that they’ll also be world premiering their next feature length film, Naomi Jones!

Prairie Lights is pleased to announce that Vincent Smith, director of PROOF, which is World Premiering at PLLF will be in attendance. Here’s a bit about him:

Vincent Smith was born Hunter Bradley Smith on June 11, 2000 in Lincoln, Nebraska. His dreams of filmmaking date back to when he was 7 years old. He’s been involved in the production of several independent and student films. Inspired by the likes of Steven Spielberg and Orson Wells. He will be directing the Nebraska indie drama Student of the Year.

Vincent will be on hand for the filmmaker Q&A session and be one of the first to see PROOF! Special Guest Announcement: William Fischer and S.M Senden, Director and Writer of THE GRAVE WHISPERS!

Prairie Lights is pleased to announce two more special guests: Director William Fischer and writer S.M Senden of THE GRAVE WHISPERS, World Premiering at this year’s PLFF! Here’s a bit about them:

William Fischer is a writer, director, and illustrator from Papillion, Nebraska. He recently completed a Masters in film production and direction at the National University of Ireland, Galway. His shot film “Over the Fairy Hill” recently played at the Omaha Film Festival, and he has had work published in magazines including Moon-Drenched Fables, Intergalactic Medicine Show, and Bards and Sages Quarterly.

S M Senden was raised in the Chicago area, studied, worked and traveled in the US, Europe, Africa and the Middle East and holds a Masters degree. Senden has numerous history books, historical murder mysteries and collections of short stories in print from various publishers. Senden has written a dozen screenplays in various genres with some in production and a few completed.

Both will be on hand to discuss their film in the Filmmaker Q&A panel. So what are you waiting for? We’re stoked to announce the World Premiere of  William Fischer’s THE GRAVE WHISPERS at this year’s PLFF! Here’s a synopsis:

The stories of lives lived all across Nebraska are often forgotten unless one pauses in their day to visit some of the older cemeteries, wander amidst the gravestones and begin to learn of those buried there…

The final screenplay was written by S.M. Senden, a Nebraska writer,  and Sally Hurst from a story by S.M Senden. It was filmed in Springfield and Papillion, NE with talent from around the state, including Cynthia Condrey, Jacob J. Roman, Erica Gardner, Carly and Hadley Stokes, and Mike Burns.
