Special Guest Announcement: Chuck Mittan, writer and co-director of LEAVING KANSAS!

We’re happy to announce that Chuck Mittan will be attending this years Prairie Lights Film Festival and participating in the Saturday Q&A of short filmmakers for his film LEAVING KANSAS. Here’s a bit about Chuck:

chuckmittanChuck Mittan is a Nebraska-based newspaper editor who wrote his first screenplay in 2007 when he attended an intensive, two-week screenwriting colony with Lew Hunter, former Hollywood writer and chair of the UCLA screenwriting department. “Leaving Kansas” is his second short film with director David Weiss — they collaborated a year earlier on the short documentary, “Shakespeare With Noodles” — but it is his first time as co-director. His other writing credits include a crime drama web series and more than a handful of short films. He was co-writer of the short film, “My Friend Max,” which was shot last year in northeastern Iowa and stars horror and sci-fi icon Doug Jones. The script for “Max,” which he co-wrote with director Mikeal Burgin, won the Writer’s Block Award at the 2015 Snake Alley Festival of Film. He wrote another short film, “A Merry Band of Players,” which was shot in March and directed by Paul Allen. He plans to make his solo directing debut in January with the short film, “Eskimo Kisses,” which he also wrote. Since 2007, and in the flurry of all those short films, he has managed to write at least one feature-length script every year. Earlier this year, “Deer Killer,” a feature script he wrote in 2011, was optioned.
