World Premiere of Pete O’Brien’s THE HOUSE ON PEACH AVENUE to screen at PLFF!

house1We’re stoked to announce the World Premiere of Pete O’Brien’s THE HOUSE ON PEACH AVENUE at this year’s PLFF! The film will be screening as part of Flat Water Terrors, Volume 2!  Here’s the synopsis:

house2When two paranormal investigators head out to the country to explore a ghostly legend, they get more than they bargained for at The House on Peach Avenue.

THE HOUSE ON PEACH AVENUE is part of 5 new horror short films that will be premiering as part of this new anthology, including Sam Rocha’s THE BAGMAN,  Jack Forey’s TERPSI’S CATCH,  Aaron Gum’s THE TOOTH GOBLIN,  and Patrick Lambrecht and Joshua Weixelman’s LOVE BITES.  All of the filmmakers will be on hand to participate in a Q&A after the screening!

World Premiere of John Alexander’s BENDER to screen at this year’s PLFF!

Prairie Lights is proud to announce that the World Premiere of John Alexander’s feature length western-thriller BENDER will be kicking off our film festival on Friday, October 7th!  Check out the synopsis below:

BENDER unveils the bizarrely true story of America’s first serial killing family. The year is 1873, and travelers benderare mysteriously vanishing on the Kansas frontier. The troubled Doctor York goes searching for answers and stumbles upon the Benders, a homesteading family with an unnatural way of living off the land. As the elders of the family vie for dominance, their daughter Kate draws upon her supposed supernatural powers to will a better future, and a peculiar young boy is reared in the family trade – but unexpected visitors could threaten their seemingly quiet homestead. In this boldly restrained thriller, human hunger can be the most dangerous of traps.

BENDER was partially shot at Stuhr Museum in Grand Island, Nebraska, in conjunction with the Grand Island Convention and Visitor’s Bureau. Prairie Lights is proud to bring this feature length historical thriller to the big screen and to showcase the fantastic and historical Stuhr Museum on the big screen!

Omaha HeRo’s: MAILBO to screen at this year’s PLFF!

For the first show, we explain what the Prairie Lights Film Festival is, what the principles are that it is founded on, and address criticisms and misconceptions that we’ve encountered over the years.

The Flat Water Terrors bluray release will take place at the Alamo Drafthouse July 29th and benefit the Nebraska Independent Film Projects and Eastern Nebraska Film Office organizations!
